Cable types

The right cable for every run.

Cat6 and Cat6A for most copper runs. Cable chosen per run by device, distance, PoE power, and bandwidth. Fiber where copper distance runs out.

Primary copper
Cat6

Standard copper for workstations, VoIP phones, Wi-Fi access points, cameras, and access control readers.

1 Gb to 100 m · 10 Gb on short runs · 250 MHz
Primary copper
Cat6A

10 Gb horizontal cabling for high-bandwidth links and higher-power PoE devices.

10 Gb to 100 m · 500 MHz
Fiber
Multimode fiber

High-bandwidth links inside a building: risers, data rooms, and switch-to-switch connections.

Risers · data rooms
Fiber
Single-mode fiber

Long-distance backbones and building-to-building links where copper can't reach.

Backbones · building to building
Existing / legacy
Cat5e

Adds, moves, and repairs on existing Cat5e cabling. New runs are typically Cat6 or Cat6A.

Up to 1 Gb · 100 MHz

We walk the site, review drawings, and confirm drop counts, pathways, and the closet layout.

  2. 02Design & quote

A clear scope: cable type per run, terminations, racks, testing, and schedule.

  3. 03Install

Pathways, pulls, and clean dressing of cable in ceilings, walls, and trays.

  4. 04Terminate & test

Jacks and panels terminated; every run tested.

FAQ

Structured cabling questions.

Common questions, short answers.

Should we install Cat6 or Cat6A?

Cat6: standard for most office drops. Cat6A: 10 Gb over a full 100 m channel and better for higher-power PoE, common for Wi-Fi access points. We recommend per run.

Can you work with our existing Cat5e?

Yes: we handle adds, moves, and repairs on existing Cat5e cabling. For new runs we typically install Cat6 or Cat6A.

Do you test the cabling?

Every run is tested and the results are delivered at close-out.

Do you also run fiber?

Yes. We install single-mode and multimode fiber for backbones and building-to-building links. See Fiber Optics.

Do you work as a subcontractor?

Yes. We provide crews for out-of-state and national contractors, nationwide. See For Contractors.
